Abstract

Women and economic power: it is discussed involving ancient and modern cultural identities in an attempt to condemn but mostly to fulfill society adapted for a long time a male dimension. But in what kind of power? Power is the word we want to restore the sense of potential and skills, responsibility and desire for commitment. But in what sense? The power it could be defined as the ability or authority to act, performed for personal or collective as the ability to influence the behavior of human groups. Does the first or the second case belongs to women? We believe that we can all agree to say that historically belong to women both powers. And women's history, as a discipline of research, helps us to understand the relationship between women and power. And 'well it is known that the history of women has long been the focus of studies and insights. Despite the objective difficulties related to such an investigation related to the lack of consistent and continuous sources, mainly due to impediments for legislation, in mentality and customs, he saw that the woman was still able to participate in various activities carving out especially at low level, but in some cases also "high", its own space within the range of roles and responsibilities that animated the economy in the course of the modern age. The recent historiography has focused on lines of research directed to return the woman a more active role in the economic historical processes. New issues are led, and they have stimulated a debate on the female contribution on the economy. By studying the legislation and case studies, our paper will demonstrate the role played by women in the economy of a kingdom which, as elsewhere, it was the prerogative of the male gender. Particularly in the management of companies, in the work done by women, especially in charitable institutions, monasteries, commercial activities. And with documentation preserved in archive of old public banks in Naples, it will be able to draw a portrait of the "women who came to the bank" and motivation, always related to "business" cost.
