The sooting structures of premixed methane and toluene-doped (0.8 vol.%) methane flames were analyzed by sampling and analysis of condensed phases. It was shown that the addition of very small amounts of toluene drastically changes sooting yield and the properties of soot formed as inferred by detailed chemical and spectroscopic analysis.
