In this work we describe the performances of a fluorescence-based optical device developed for sepsis analysis capable to measure the concentration of PCT, CRP and neopterin in serum. The heart of the system is a two-piece polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA) chip, with microchannels through which the analysed sample flows. The fluorescence, which comes from the sensing layer where the specific biologic interaction takes place, is guided by PMMA waveguides which run along the microchannels to an optical fibre connected to a Hamamatsu optical spectrum analyser.

Abstract
In this work we describe the performances of a fluorescence-based optical device developed for sepsis analysis capable to measure the concentration of PCT, CRP and neopterin in serum. The heart of the system is a two-piece polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA) chip, with microchannels through which the analysed sample flows. The fluorescence, which comes from the sensing layer where the specific biologic interaction takes place, is guided by PMMA waveguides which run along the microchannels to an optical fibre connected to a Hamamatsu optical spectrum analyser.File in questo prodotto:
