An hydrolytic technique that stains constitutive heterochromatin of wheat is described. This technique, that is applicable to chromosomes squashed after hot HCl hydrolysis, produces a banding pattern similar to that produced by Barium-Saline-Giemsa, and is less time consuming and more reliable. The karyotype of durum wheat is described after the use of the double-ditelosomic lines of the cv. Langdon to inequivocally identify single chromosomes.

Abstract
An hydrolytic technique that stains constitutive heterochromatin of wheat is described. This technique, that is applicable to chromosomes squashed after hot HCl hydrolysis, produces a banding pattern similar to that produced by Barium-Saline-Giemsa, and is less time consuming and more reliable. The karyotype of durum wheat is described after the use of the double-ditelosomic lines of the cv. Langdon to inequivocally identify single chromosomes.File in questo prodotto:
