This report is part of Deliverable 3.2.1 "Towing tank velocity and wall pressure fluctuations measurements and data analysis" of the EDA-UMS project CAPEM ("Conformal Array Performance Estimation Modelling") . The objective of the deliverable is to present the activities carried out in the frame of WP3 "Towing tank experiments". The content includes the description of the design of the tow body and all its related elements, the model construction and the setup preparation and the presentation of the experimental results and of the data analysis. The purpose of this 'Part I' is to present the state of progress of the setup preparation and the related preliminary tests. The experimental results, together with data analysis, will be presented in the 'Part II'.
