In this work we investigated the effect of the type of support (TiO 2 vs. Al 2 O 3 ) on the elemental mercury removal performance of MnOx-based sorbents, which can be suited for the low temperature NH 3 - SCR process. The sorbents were characterized by means of XRD, BET, H 2 -TPR, and Hg-TPD. In particular the effect of the simultaneous presence of Hg, NO and NH 3 in the flue gas was studied in view of the possible development of a single-step process integrating low temperature SCR and mercury capture.

Abstract

In this work we investigated the effect of the type of support (TiO 2 vs. Al 2 O 3 ) on the elemental mercury removal performance of MnOx-based sorbents, which can be suited for the low temperature NH 3 - SCR process. The sorbents were characterized by means of XRD, BET, H 2 -TPR, and Hg-TPD. In particular the effect of the simultaneous presence of Hg, NO and NH 3 in the flue gas was studied in view of the possible development of a single-step process integrating low temperature SCR and mercury capture.
