Both improved technical capabilities, and to the need of a better knowledge of such processes, in view of better strategies for risk reduction, motivate this development of monitoring activities. In order to gain a better knowledge on debris flows and sediment fluxes in headwater catchments, the Agency for Cuìivil Protectionof the Province of Bolzano has implemented a debris-flow monitoring station in the Gadria Creek, a small stream of Vinschgau (South Tyrol).
