Abstract
Adsorption of water vapor on single crystal quartz substrates and polycrystalline Pd and Pd:Ni films has been experimentally studied at room temperature and atmospheric pressure using surface acoustic waves. The amount of adsorbed species has been estimated. Adsorption-induced changes in the density ??/? of the films and their elastic moduli of the second order ?Cij/Cij have been measured. Anomalously great changes in the ?C11/C11 value have been observed for small amounts of adsorbed species. The water vapor adsorption process for quartz has been established to occur much slower than desorption of this vapor.File in questo prodotto:
