Entre autoridad y potestad

La representación municipal en las asambleas de cortes catalanas bajomedievales resulta un argumento particularmente interesante para observar, sobre todo desde el punto de vista del municipio, los principales problemas en torno a la autoridad que se crean en la ciudad, así como los entresijos de poder político y económico entre ésta, la monarquía y los otros brazos. A través de las cortes y priorizando, pues, un punto de vista municipal, se puede analizar igualmente el concepto de Potestas, particularmente aquella que el consejo ciudadano otorga a sus procuradores, así como éstos la utilizarán.

The municipal representation in the Catalan assemblies of the late medieval period is a particularly interesting topic to investigate, from the municipality's viewpoint, the main issues concerning authority, which emerged in the city, as well as the intricacies of the political and economic power between the city, the monarchy and the other elements. Looking at this via the courts and thereby giving priority to the viewpoint of the municipality, it is also possible to analyse the concept of Potestas, in particular that which the city council grants its solicitors and how they use it.
