This protocol specifies an accurate and sensitive method for the determination of T-2 and HT-2 toxins content in oats and oat-based foods using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection. T-2 and HT-2 toxins are extracted from the test material with a mixture of acetonitrile and water. The filtered extract is dried, reconstituted with a mixture of methanol and water, then purified on a polymeric solid-phase extraction cartridge.
