Welcome to the 2017 14th IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control (ICNSC), May 16-18. With great pleasure, we welcome you to the wonderful Tyrrenian coast of the Calabria region, Italy. Our conference theme is: Sensing, Connecting and Controlling Everything through Open Internet of Things. Following this theme, the conference provides a forum for researchers and practitioners involved in different but related domains to confront research results and discuss key problems. The scope of ICNSC 2017 includes the research and development fields of networking, sensing and control. Such fields include the following diversified topics: Autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, Automobile control and sensor systems, Big Data analytics, Collaborative systems, Complex system management, Control of networks, Cyberphysical Systems, Distributed intelligent systems, Emergency mitigation, Emergency planning, Emergency response, Fuzzy and neural systems, Hazard mitigation, Heterogeneous wireless networks, Homeland security, Human factors, Human adaptive mechatronics, Human/computer interface, Information systems & infrastructure, Intelligent vehicle highway systems, Internet of things, Medical and patient monitoring, Micro/nano, electro-mechanical sensor systems, Multi-level multi-objective optimization, Network security, Network-based computing systems, Networked control systems, Resilient Control systems, Sensor design, integration and fusion, Sensor networks, Smart car and vehicle control, Smart grids, Smart home environments, Smart vision and image processing, Software engineering for the IoT, Space-based networking, Tele-robotics, Wearable computing and communications, Wireless communications, Workflow management systems. The ICNSC 2017 Program Committee developed an exciting technical schedule including three keynote speeches by internationally recognized researchers in the related areas, 22 technical sessions with over 138 paper presentations, and one workshop (the 2nd Workshop on Interactive and Wearable Computing and Devices). The proceedings contain 138 papers coauthored by over 500 researchers from 39 countries. I would like to thank all the co-chairs and members of the Program Committee for their efforts in putting together a comprehensive program. Special thanks are due to the authors who all contributed excellent papers to this conference. This conference would not have been possible without your dedication and support. I also thank and express gratitude to the chairs and members of the Organizing Committees, especially Antonio Guerrieri and Andrea Vinci for managing the conference details with great efficiency. Once again, welcome to Calabria and enjoy your stay!
