Abstract
In the context of the transformations triggered by the recent global economic crisis and the tightening of government policy towards irregular migrants, the ethnographical studies which explore the spaces where migrants are confined and the social processes of construction of their subjectivity are still rather limited. A remarkable contribution is represented by the two pieces of research here presented. The investigations collected in an edited book by Makaremi e Kobelinsky critically discuss the practices and politics of containment carried out by the European countries toward migrants. Main topics of analysis are the new spaces created for the management of migrants and the situations faced by those who are passing through. In the same vein, the extensive report produced by Bloch, Sigona and Zetter addresses the complex nature of being a young undocumented migrant in contemporary Britain and the ways in which the undocumented status and the experience of prejudices impacts on the life choices of migrants.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
