We present a study conducted in Geoland-2, which aims to develop environmental indicators of land condition in sub-Saharan Africa focusing explicitly on the EC needs. Africa has been recognised as one of the continents that is both worst affected by, and most vulnerable to climate variability and change (IPCC, 2007). Changes in the distribution and magnitude of extreme rainfall events observed in many parts of the African continent are associated with both climate change and climate variability which can vary from one region to another . To address these issues, in the first place we analysed spatial and temporal changes in rainfall and vegetation patterns in sub-Saharan Africa over the last decade.
