One of the persuasive means to enhance sustainability is developing innovations. To this aim, the article investigates in depth, 12 cases to find out how innovation process for sustainability differ from the typical forms. We analyze proposed potential areas of the process differences: first, process structure/cycle; second, partnership which is categorized into user involvement, public-private partnerships and secondary stakeholders. The results reveal that user involvement and process cycle may be the main drivers of disparities. Moreover, the results show the extent of disparities descend from mixed product/service development to radical and then incremental product or service developments.
