Planar and two dimensional X-ray waveguides (WGs) are optical elements of considerableinterest both from a fundamental point of view, and for their use in microprobe experiments,ie, microimaging, microdiffraction, microfluorescence, etc. After the first demonstration of thefeasibility to provide a sub-micrometre beam with planar WGs1, 2 and with 2D WG, 3 manydifferent schemes and many applications have been demonstrated.
