From the Lemnaceae spp available, several genotypes were seeded in open field tanks and grown in the presence of AD wastewater. The experiments begun in the Spring of 2016. Weekly, duckweed fresh weight increase was evaluated. The majority of the samples was returned to the treatment tank, whereas samples were used for biochemical and physiological characterization (dry weight, chlorophyll and pigments, starch and fatty acids). At the same time, N, NH4, NO3, P and COD in incoming wastewater and in water after the duckweed growth were analysed to evaluate purification degree.

Abstract

From the Lemnaceae spp available, several genotypes were seeded in open field tanks and grown in the presence of AD wastewater. The experiments begun in the Spring of 2016. Weekly, duckweed fresh weight increase was evaluated. The majority of the samples was returned to the treatment tank, whereas samples were used for biochemical and physiological characterization (dry weight, chlorophyll and pigments, starch and fatty acids). At the same time, N, NH4, NO3, P and COD in incoming wastewater and in water after the duckweed growth were analysed to evaluate purification degree.
