The ecosystem service of the musselculture in the Mar Piccolo of Taranto has been accounted in 2012, when a Regional Ordinance imposed the destruction of around 13,000 tons of Mytilus galloprovincialis L. due to a high content in dioxins and PCBs. The social and environmental values of this ecological service have been also preliminary discussed.
