In this work, an analysis is presented on the noise exposure in the three agglomerations in Tuscany (Firenze, Livorno and Prato), accompanied by the quantification of DALYs in relation to different noise related diseases (tinnitus, sleep disturbance and annoyance). The use of this indicator could facilitate the evaluation of costs and benefits in planning and ranking local strategic noise mitigation measures.
Noise mapping according to the Directive 49/2002/EC has been the occasion to collect more homogeneous data on noise exposure levels produced by transportation infrastructures in big cities. Among the various descriptors quantifying noise effects on health, the DALY (Disability Adjusted Life Years) is a very useful indicator providing an easy way to assess both the impact of noise and the benefits of implementing action plans to reduce the exposure.

Abstract
Noise mapping according to the Directive 49/2002/EC has been the occasion to collect more homogeneous data on noise exposure levels produced by transportation infrastructures in big cities. Among the various descriptors quantifying noise effects on health, the DALY (Disability Adjusted Life Years) is a very useful indicator providing an easy way to assess both the impact of noise and the benefits of implementing action plans to reduce the exposure.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
