A European Standard (EN) has been proposed at the initiative of the previous President of EAS, Michel Thibaudon, with the help of AFNOR, which specifies the procedure to be followed for the sampling and continuous analysis of the concentration of pollen and fungal spores in the air, using a Hirst volumetric sampler (or some method comparable data). The method described in the Technical Specification (TS) is aimed for the purposes of networks related to allergy. The document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 264 WG39 "Air quality" and approved by CEN on 15 September 2015 for provisional application (prEN 16868). The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to submit their comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.

Ambient air - Sampling and analysis of airborne pollen grains and fungal spores for networks related to allergy - Volumetric Hirst method (CEN/TS 16868:2015)

2017
