Soil contamination by heavy metals and other hazardous elements is one of the most recognized forms of environmental pollution and their concentrations depend on both anthropogenic activities and natural pedo-geochemical background. The objectives of the study were: (1) assessing the environmental geochemical conditions, deriving from natural and anthropogenic agents ratio in urban soils of Cosenza-Rende territory (southern Italy), characterized by high population and high vehicular traffic densities; (2) mapping the spatial distribution and the probability of areas exceeding a given regulatory value by using stochastic simulation.

Abstract
Soil contamination by heavy metals and other hazardous elements is one of the most recognized forms of environmental pollution and their concentrations depend on both anthropogenic activities and natural pedo-geochemical background. The objectives of the study were: (1) assessing the environmental geochemical conditions, deriving from natural and anthropogenic agents ratio in urban soils of Cosenza-Rende territory (southern Italy), characterized by high population and high vehicular traffic densities; (2) mapping the spatial distribution and the probability of areas exceeding a given regulatory value by using stochastic simulation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
