A leafminer of the Nearctic genus Coptodisca (Lepidoptera: Heliozelidae) is reported for the fi rst time from Italy, infesting the black and the common walnut. Mines were collected since September 2010 in several sites of two Italian regions (Campania and Lazio). Th ree generations × year were recorded. Th e leafminer overwintered as mature larva. Th e fi rst adults emerged in May-June while mature larvae of the last generation started the overwintering in September. At the last generation of the year 100% of infested leaves were recorded in all sampled localities. Several species of parasitoids were reared from infested mines.
