The project and the development of any significant direct documentation of monumental tombs are clearly influenced by both the specific characteristics of the object to document, and the objectives that we want to achieve with such operation. A survey which allow the accurate documentation, in every detail, of the features of any architectonic and archaeological artifacts is, without doubt, that realized by 3D laser scanner technology. The use of this technology has allowed the creation of a georeferenced and upgradable digital library, for monitoring the conservation state of historical artifacts and for planning their restoration: these objectives are difficult to achieve without the help of virtual models.

Abstract
The project and the development of any significant direct documentation of monumental tombs are clearly influenced by both the specific characteristics of the object to document, and the objectives that we want to achieve with such operation. A survey which allow the accurate documentation, in every detail, of the features of any architectonic and archaeological artifacts is, without doubt, that realized by 3D laser scanner technology. The use of this technology has allowed the creation of a georeferenced and upgradable digital library, for monitoring the conservation state of historical artifacts and for planning their restoration: these objectives are difficult to achieve without the help of virtual models.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
