The enhancing effect of hyperthermia when combined to radio- and chemio-therapy allow a relevant improvement of such anti-cancer treatments. This communication presents an innovative hyperthermia treatment planning strategy that selectively focus/shape the specific absorption rate deposition within the tumor, while avoiding the unde-sired heating of healthy tissues. This latter represents one of the main therapeutical challenges. Because of its formulation (as a convex programming problem) and the use of multi-frequency applicator, the proposed approach is able to both deliver the global optimal solution of the problem and gather a better control of hot-spots occurrence. The approach is presented for the case of scalar fields, but it is conceptually extendable to vector fields as well.

Abstract
The approach is presented for the case of scalar fields, but it is conceptually extendable to vector fields as well.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
