Abstract

Great efforts in selecting chickpea varieties resistant to environmental stresses and the linked breeding programmes have led to establishing new elite varieties adapted to grow in semiarid regions and to tolerate the climate changes. This review discusses the -Omic tools (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, reverse genetics, genetic engineering, and chemical profiling) studies, and the findings that made these achievements possible.
