The scope of this document is to present the detailed design of the CS-based instrument selected at the Preliminary Design Review (PDR). With reference to the Deliverable TN2, issued at the PDR, the instrument selected for the third phase of the project is: - Concept #5A - "UV-VIS hyperspectral imager with dispersive elements on orbiter", which relies on a classical CS approach addressing the reconstruction of the full image/signal. According to the SOW, the present TN3 Report includes: - Detailed description and justification of the optical CS based elegant breadboard. - The estimated performances of the elegant breadboard. - Test setups definitions and descriptions for future performance verification. - List of suppliers for different components and qualification status of technology. In addition, as suggested in the conclusions of the PDR, a further configuration addressing an upgraded version of the Concept #5A was also investigated. The latter exploits the light rejected by the DMD mirrors in off-position to implement an additional channel, with the aim of extending the application field and/or the performance of the instrument.
