The chapter deals with aerobic granular sludge (AGS) reactors. AGS is an innovative technology for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment offering several advantages over conventional treatment systems. During the last decade the process has started to be scaled-up with several plants built in the world although limited information on their operating data has been reported in the scientific literature so far. The overall aim of this chapter is therefore to analyze the applications of AGS reactors by reviewing experiences from laboratory to full scale. A particular attention is paid to the aspects that have prevented or slowed the practical full scale application of AGS systems.

Abstract
The chapter deals with aerobic granular sludge (AGS) reactors. AGS is an innovative technology for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment offering several advantages over conventional treatment systems. During the last decade the process has started to be scaled-up with several plants built in the world although limited information on their operating data has been reported in the scientific literature so far. The overall aim of this chapter is therefore to analyze the applications of AGS reactors by reviewing experiences from laboratory to full scale. A particular attention is paid to the aspects that have prevented or slowed the practical full scale application of AGS systems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
