Interazione tra fenomeni di instabilità e tessuto urbano di alcuni centri storici dell'Italia centro-settentrionale

The contribution discusses the relationship between the growth of historic urban center built on top of rock slabs overlying a clayey substratum and the stability of the slab margins. Attention is focused on those landslide events that, though rarer, have larger size than that of the recurrent falls from the slab cliffs and appear to be critical for risk assessment. Rock volumes of these events have been so large to involve the built up areas, usually located at a safe distance from the cliff, to a large extent and have actually controlled urbanization of the slab in the course of centuries. Furthermore, the contribution of historic materials, especially iconographic, in estimating size/location of those events and understanding changes with time in the extent of the urbanized areas is described. These issues are illustrated and discussed with reference to three historic towns in Central Italy, which the author has directly studied since the mid '80s.

Nella nota si discute il rapporto tra espansione dei centri storici costruiti su piastroni rocciosi poggianti su un substrato argilloso e la stabilità del margine dei piastroni. L'attenzione è posta sugli eventi più rari ma di dimensioni tali da interagire direttamente col costruito e da condizionare la crescita del centro storico, e quindi critici per la valutazione del rischio. Viene inoltre descritto il contributo dei documenti storici, soprattutto iconografici, nel valutare dimensioni e ubicazione di tali eventi e le variazioni dell'area edificata nel tempo. Questi aspetti sono affrontati per tre centri dell'Italia centrale che l'autore ha studiato direttamente.
