Electrophoretic analysis of 27 karyotypes of Vicia faba minor has been carried out in order to study the influence of chromosomal changes on seed proteins . The results show that: 1) 28 out of 40 bands are responsible for qualitative differences; 2) chromosomal changes affect the protein profile in a negative direction (reducing the number of bands) but may increase variability by producing new proteins; 3) quantitative differences are evident but not always strong enough to be used for karyotype identification . Cluster analysis of the 40 bands show that: 1 ) each profile is d ifferent from the others; 2) primary karyotype rearrangement are very distinct from each other, from the standard and the other variants; 3) apparently secondary and tertiary rearrangements tend to group according to chromosomal segments involved and to be distinct from the standard .

Abstract
Electrophoretic analysis of 27 karyotypes of Vicia faba minor has been carried out in order to study the influence of chromosomal changes on seed proteins . The results show that: 1) 28 out of 40 bands are responsible for qualitative differences; 2) chromosomal changes affect the protein profile in a negative direction (reducing the number of bands) but may increase variability by producing new proteins; 3) quantitative differences are evident but not always strong enough to be used for karyotype identification . Cluster analysis of the 40 bands show that: 1 ) each profile is d ifferent from the others; 2) primary karyotype rearrangement are very distinct from each other, from the standard and the other variants; 3) apparently secondary and tertiary rearrangements tend to group according to chromosomal segments involved and to be distinct from the standard .I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
