In this work we report the presence of an antibacterial activity in the lipidic extract of seaweeds collected in the Northern Ionian Sea, Italy. The algal lipidic extracts of some species show an antibacterial activity against the two human pathogenic Enterococcus sp. and Streptococcus agalactiae as well as all several Vibrio species. Thus, the macroalgal biomass obtained in an aquaculture ecofriendly system could be biotechnologically exploited as a source of bioactive compounds.

Abstract
In this work we report the presence of an antibacterial activity in the lipidic extract of seaweeds collected in the Northern Ionian Sea, Italy. The algal lipidic extracts of some species show an antibacterial activity against the two human pathogenic Enterococcus sp. and Streptococcus agalactiae as well as all several Vibrio species. Thus, the macroalgal biomass obtained in an aquaculture ecofriendly system could be biotechnologically exploited as a source of bioactive compounds.File in questo prodotto:
