Thanks to recent archaeological research in the area of Jure Vetere, located near San Giovanni in Fiore (province of Cosenza, Region Calabria - Italy), was discovered a monastic site, founded by the monk Gioacchino da Fiore (end of the XII century - first decades of the XIII century). The archaeological research, carried out on the site by IBAM-CNR and the Post Graduate School of Archaeology (SSBA-UNIBAS, Matera), put in evidence a remarkably sized ecclesiastical construction that features two different building phases. What should be pointed out is that, thanks to the multi-disciplinary approach applied to a "Landscape Archaeology" research, important information was collected due to the study of archaeological finds, written sources, ethnoarchaeological data, photo-interpretations, geological and geopedological research, pollen, botanic and archaeometric analysis. Finally the GIS processed data helps us to recognize the exploitation system of the territory so necessary for the monastic life.

Abstract
Finally the GIS processed data helps us to recognize the exploitation system of the territory so necessary for the monastic life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
