Salvatore Di Giacomo's dramaturgic activity starts, in collaboration with Goffredo Cognetti, with the drama 'O voto, based on a short story and published in Italian language in 1889 with the title Maia Vita, revised by Nicola Daspuro in a homonymous libretto for opera in 1892 and, finally, published in Neapolitan language in 1910. In this essay, the author reconstructs the editorial story of the drama starting from the analysis of other sources and proposes a hypothesis about the role played by Cognetti in the composition of the drama.
