The main aim of this paper is to investigate the importance of environmental issues when buyers sourcing transport and logistics services. The paper takes the buyer's perspective and it explores buyer practices when purchasing green transport and logistics services. A case study analysis was conducted in a sample of six buyer companies operating in Italy and Finland. The results show how environmental sustainability receive little attention when buyer source their logistics services and put in evidence the importance to reinforce and developing collaborative relationship between buyer and 3PLs for reducing the environmental impact of transport and logistics activities in the supply chain.
