The presentation provides a complete overview of all regulations' chronology regarding the type approval of motor vehicles of all categories and engines. In particular, it focuse on the EC Directive 2007/46/EC, the so-called framework directive, and the new EU Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles (EU Regulation No. 2018/858). Addressed to a scicialised and technical audience, the presentation provides an analysis of the EU policy in the field.
