Nowadays, thermal energy storage (TES) is an essential subject in energy applications and enormous efforts have been made to improve the energy storage capacity of the most common materials applied in this field. The present paper presents a study of the main features and properties of three materials, AlPO-18, FAPO-34, SAPO-34, referred as zeotype adsorbent materials that could be applied in a storage system based on adsorption/desorption process of water vapour. Two sorption heat storage (SHS) cycles, suitable for European climate conditions, have been selected: the first one is specified for seasonal heat storage (SS) while the second one is characteristic for daily storage (DS). The results show that SAPO-34, characterized by chabazite (CHA) structure, is the most promising material for TES application both for SS and for DS.
