The paper aims at describing some specific features of the language of friar Bartolomeo da San Concordio's (1262-1346) Italian translations of Latin texts. Through the analysis of a number of lexemes, two individual aspects of Bartolomeo's language are demostrated: 1. the use of Latinisms, explained by internal glosses, especially for military terms; 2. the connections with the religious language, especially for the translation of terms concerning the moral sphere. Bartolomeo emerges as a translator able to impart changes to the language of the «volgarizzamenti», where the classic and Dominican cultures merge with educational and moralizing purposes.

Abstract
The paper aims at describing some specific features of the language of friar Bartolomeo da San Concordio's (1262-1346) Italian translations of Latin texts. Through the analysis of a number of lexemes, two individual aspects of Bartolomeo's language are demostrated: 1. the use of Latinisms, explained by internal glosses, especially for military terms; 2. the connections with the religious language, especially for the translation of terms concerning the moral sphere. Bartolomeo emerges as a translator able to impart changes to the language of the «volgarizzamenti», where the classic and Dominican cultures merge with educational and moralizing purposes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
