This special issue of Marine Genomics comprising 6 articles arose from the 2015 Satellite Meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology in Prague, Czech Republic, under the same name, organised byMichael Berenbrink and Andrew Cossins. This focused on recent genomic achievements in marine animals and how they empower a more comprehensive understanding of evolutionary and environmental adaptations. The meeting was financially supported by the Society for Experimental Biology and the Company of Biologists to whom we are grateful.
