Seismic risk is a very important issue for Albania. Seismic microzonation represents a highly useful tool for seismic prevention and risk assessment in land management, for the design of building or structures and for emergency planning. The general purpose of this project is to provide an overall approach for assessing seismic risk at the scale strategic cities of Albania and to promote security improvement in this region, through the development of new tools for risk assessment, urban and infrastructure planning, and emergency management, which can be used at both national and transnational level. More specifically, within this bilateral project, geological and geophysical surveys are planned in 3 cities in Albania (Gjirokastra, Berat e Dürres) with the aim of performing seismic microzonation at various levels. This report summarizes the activities carried out during the first year (2018) of the joint research project "Preliminary study for the assessment of seismic risk in cities of relevant cultural heritage of Albania" included in the Bilateral Agreement between the National Research Council of Italy and the Ministry of Education and Sport of the Republic of Albania (MoES). The activities carried out during the year 2018 are summarized in two phases: - Phase 1: retrieval of previous and bibliographic information for the cities of Gjirokastra, Berat and Dürres. - Phase 2: planning of a geological and geophysical survey campaign for the cities of Gjirokastra, Berat and Dürres.

Abstract
- Phase 2: planning of a geological and geophysical survey campaign for the cities of Gjirokastra, Berat and Dürres.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
