Data structuring, making use of the well established Database Design techniques, may lead to a clean model or art history objects. The solutions adopted by the Italian Institute for Cataloguing art objects (ICCD), are briefly outlined. The structuring of information has lead to the definition of a simple, but effective exchange format, overcoming the difficulties of establishing appropriate standards at physical, logical and conceptual level. The experience made with 31 projects, who acted independently, on the basis of the frame of reference, and problems of standardization of language and descriptions, are discussed.
