This essay examines Giannantoni's historiographical production regarding ancient logic. In particular, two works are considered: the first one, on Aristotle's modal logic, published in 1964; the second one, appeared in 1981, concerning the ??????? ????? of Diodorus Cronus. While the study of modal logic is valuable for its philological rigor and its hermeneutic sobriety, the latter is a true example of a historiographical method applied to ancient texts.
