This work investigates the impact of mega-ships into the port surrounding network and propose a model to optimize the displacement of containers toward the dry port destinations. The aim is to give a decision support for operational planning when limited capacity is considered both in the yard for container storage and in the network for quantity of container transferred per time unit. The model considers time dependent costs and traveling time on the network, with the aim to represent / limit the congestion.

Abstract

This work investigates the impact of mega-ships into the port surrounding network and propose a model to optimize the displacement of containers toward the dry port destinations. The aim is to give a decision support for operational planning when limited capacity is considered both in the yard for container storage and in the network for quantity of container transferred per time unit. The model considers time dependent costs and traveling time on the network, with the aim to represent / limit the congestion.
