The field work carried out in the Marivan area (Kurdistan, Iran) was devoted to the definition of the morphological and geological context of the archaeological site of Qaleh Naneh and possible relations with the Zeribar lake basin, near Marivan. In detail our aims were: identify the geological and geomorphological setting before the human settlement; identify sediments coeval to the settlement; establish a relationship between the Zeribar basin and the Qaleh Naneh basin.
