Home care monitoring is becoming more and more widely used in health care for patients with heart failure. New wearable devices and systems allow monitoring vital parameters and to generate alarms when some parameter value exceeds a given threshold. In this paper we present an intelligent mobile system for cardiac monitoring based on a Rule Decision Support System, able to correlate data coming from an ECG wearable device with some physical activities. This correlation allows estimation of Heart Rate variability to minimize the generation of unnecessary emergency alarms.

Abstract

Home care monitoring is becoming more and more widely used in health care for patients with heart failure. New wearable devices and systems allow monitoring vital parameters and to generate alarms when some parameter value exceeds a given threshold. In this paper we present an intelligent mobile system for cardiac monitoring based on a Rule Decision Support System, able to correlate data coming from an ECG wearable device with some physical activities. This correlation allows estimation of Heart Rate variability to minimize the generation of unnecessary emergency alarms.
