Over the past two decades, the synthesis, characterization, degradation and applications of biodegradable polymers have been studied. Polyesters and polyesteramides have been synthesised by melt polycondensation, ROP, trans-esterification and chain extension reactions. Several analytical methods have been used or developed ad hoc for the analysis of both monomers and polymeric samples or blends. The thermal, photo-, thermo-oxidative, laser-induced and enzymatic degradation, as well as the biodegradation in compost and soil have been investigated. Moreover, applications as drug delivery systems and for food packaging have been successfully evaluated.

Abstract
Over the past two decades, the synthesis, characterization, degradation and applications of biodegradable polymers have been studied. Polyesters and polyesteramides have been synthesised by melt polycondensation, ROP, trans-esterification and chain extension reactions. Several analytical methods have been used or developed ad hoc for the analysis of both monomers and polymeric samples or blends. The thermal, photo-, thermo-oxidative, laser-induced and enzymatic degradation, as well as the biodegradation in compost and soil have been investigated. Moreover, applications as drug delivery systems and for food packaging have been successfully evaluated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
