This work discusses the impact of biogenic VOC (bVOC) emissions from an idealized park of Quercus Ilex on the surface concentration of ozone in a Mediterranean city, located in South Italy. Emissions were calculated as a function of leaf temperature and photosynthetically active radiation and numerical simulations were performed for a week in July 2012 using the local-scale ADMS-Urban model coupled with the mesoscale model BOLCHEM. Preliminary results show an impact of bVOC emissions on the ozone variation in the park area.

Abstract

This work discusses the impact of biogenic VOC (bVOC) emissions from an idealized park of Quercus Ilex on the surface concentration of ozone in a Mediterranean city, located in South Italy. Emissions were calculated as a function of leaf temperature and photosynthetically active radiation and numerical simulations were performed for a week in July 2012 using the local-scale ADMS-Urban model coupled with the mesoscale model BOLCHEM. Preliminary results show an impact of bVOC emissions on the ozone variation in the park area.
