Abstract - This paper is concerned with the relationship between electronic publishing and digital scholarly textual criticism. Hypertextual techniques and computational tools are compared. These two different methodologies applied to modern and contemporary texts with respect to ancient manuscript tradition are highlighted. Particular attention is focussed on the general criteria employed in the development of a computer-assisted workstation for digital editions of Greek papyri and medieval manuscripts.
