Per una cultura delle migrazioni: linee di ricerca e informazione

Despite continual exposure to migration related issues in the mass media, our understanding of the issues involved has not improved. The news media focus on the most sensational aspects - the emergencies, deaths at sea, the arrivals by boat, the building of walls or the unforeseen gathering of large groups. At times, this leads to the construction of facile slogans or half-baked statements of principle. However, the numbers and the complexity of the issue suggest a need for fully formed and considered policies, both in Italy and at a European level. There also needs to be a commitment by everyone to try and understand the issue and to play an appropriate part by developing a culture and understanding of migration that is not simply based on rhetoric or limited half truths. This study sets out to demonstrate that such a thing is possible by listing some institutional websites that provide reliable information on migration. Such resources, freely available to all, underline how important it is to develop a culture of migration.
