Santuari e ordini religiosi tra Medioevo e prima Età Moderna

The article examines the role played in Sardinia by religious orders in the foundation, custody and promotion of important sanctuaries, between the Middle Ages and the early modern age. In particular, the article focuses on the role played by the Benedictine orders in the custody and promotion of the martyrial sanctuaries that existed upon their arrival in the Island. The essay also examines the foundation of new Marian shrines by the mendicant orders between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and the promotion of the cults linked to these shrines.

L'articolo esamina il ruolo avuto in Sardegna dagli ordini religiosi , tra medioevo e prima età moderna, nella fondazione, custodia e promozione di importanti santuari. In particolare si sofferma sul ruolo avuto dagli ordini benedettini nella custodia e promozione dei santuari martiriali preesistenti al loro arrivo nell'isola; sulla fondazione, tra XIV e XV secolo, di nuovi santuari mariani da parte degli ordini mendicanti e sull'attività di promozione dei culti legati a questi santuari.
