Abstract

In this paper, we propose a data base organization reducing to a minimum the performance decay through updates of the system, hence avoiding the need for complete restructuring. The concept we are going to introduce is that of an "invariant" structure, that is an (external) data structure which does not loose its efficiency properties when it has to be changed to modify the data it contains.
