Halochromic dyes evidence a colour change depending on the pH of the surrounding environment. If applied to wearable textile materials halochromic dyes can offer the opportunity of a continuous monitoring of the health status. Dyeing processes with five halochromic dyes were performed in laboratory and afterward an industrial trial was carried out at Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 s.r.l. The promising results have shown the potentiality for disposable textile applications.
