Starting from the dramatic situation we have lived in Italy in the early stages of the pandemic, the aim of this paper is to highlight the connections between the initial underestimation of the disease' gravity (related to the uncertain science on the pandemic and to the risk communication on it), the (consequent) public perception of COVID-19 (Sars-Cov2) and other relevant aspects in the Italian context, who pass through a survey described here.
